Handsome solid oak and ebonized wood Biedermeier chest of 5 drawers, circa 1820s. The upper and lower drawers projecting either end of decorative pilasters. Elm crossbanding on top drawer. Originally, the chest is of the type with a push-pull key arrangement to operate the drawers. Knobs have been added. All but one of the locks are original and working (the replacement lock having its own key). Evidence of paper tape having been used inside the carcase covered in Swedish idioms.
